Silver Heights is a family-run vineyard established by Gao Lin in 1999, then passed on to his daughter Gao Yuan (also known as Emma) who received her enology training at the Ecole d’Oenologie in Bordeaux. The relatively small-scale vineyard lies between the western part of Helan Mountain and the eastern part of Yellow River, with an altitude of from 1,100 to 1,300 meters above sea level.
Silver Heights vineyard’s new collection “Jiayuan” expresses the purity of Ningxia’s Helan mountain foothills and shares Emma’s passion for minimal intervention winemaking. Fermented using only wild yeasts naturally blooming in the vineyard, the wines show a raw beauty born holistically from our ecosystem.

Lots of wild cranberries and haw fruit, as well as some red dates and a whiff of green pepper. Juicy and supple, with some nice sweet-sour fruit and natural acidity that threads through the wine. Very soft tannin here. More red dates and a hint of white pepper in the finish. Pretty long and drinkable.
