The Dillon family purchased the estate in 1983 and immediately set to work on an ambitious renovation program for the property, including a number of technical enhancements designed to preserve and perpetuate its exceptional terroir as well as other embellishments, while taking care not to interfere with the special aura, charm and spirituality inhabiting the place.
Château La Mission Haut-Brion is a prestigious Bordeaux estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Graves, ranked as a Cru Classé and widely regarded as one of the top producers in the region — often informally called Bordeaux’s “sixth First Growth” due to its quality and reputation.
This second wine is a gateway to the world of Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Its name is a nod to the chapel of La Mission Haut-Brion, built by Lazarist priests in 1698.

Beautiful deep, dark, red colour. La Chapelle has a nose of ripe black fruit and spice. It starts off very smooth on the palate, then gives way to a tannic structure which confirms the impression of weight promised by its deep color. Barrel ageing will impart further softening to develop all the character of a great wine.
