Produced by François Labet (of Clos de Vougeot’s Chateau de la Tour), this vibrant Mediterranean ‘Burgundy’ oozes personality and value. Labet has a holiday house in Corsica and over the years came to love the region’s rocky terroir. He recognised that Pinot Noir could work in more elevated sites and worked with a local vigneron and friend to produce a Corsican Pinot. The vineyard is on the east coast above the town of Ghisonaccia, planted on a north-east facing terrace at 600m. Soils are predominantly clay-limestone, with some granite. Hand-picked and hand-sorted grapes are destemmed and macerated, as whole bunches, in open vats for one week. After fermentation the wine is transferred to second-use oak barrels for 12 months maturation before bottling, without filtration, under screwcap.
