The winery’s vineyards span over 72 hectares, boasting ancient soils and old vines that contribute to the complexity and character of their wines.
The winemaking team at Elderton believe this is truly the hidden gem in the Elderton portfolio of premium reds. A Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot blend was added to portfolio from the 1992 vintage. It was a belief that through blending only the best parcels of fruit from the Elderton vineyard, a truly wondrous and complete wine could be made that showed the highlights of the three grape varieties.

A rich and sophisticated style, Elderton’s ‘Ode to Lorraine’ blend is a dark ruby colour. With brooding aromas of ripe plum, dark chocolate and hints of sage. Abundant red fruit of the forest on the palate, with spice and hints of leather. Leading to a distinctive silken tannin finish.
