The late John Parker established Parker Coonawarra Estate in 1985 culminating with the release of the 1988 First Growth Cabernet Blend in 1991. The 50 acre vineyard – predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with minor plantings of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc – is located at the southern end of Coonawarra and planted on classic terra rossa over limestone soils. All of the estate’s wines are expertly crafted, but the First Growth is a brilliantly seductive wine with unbelievable depth of fruit, balance and structure as hallmarks of the style.
